Abel Tasman set to chase down her own record

One of the most in demand racers right now is Abel Tasman. With three wins in her first eight starts, this filly has surely set the bar very high. Abel is set to make her ninth start at Saratoga this weekend. The daughter of Quality Road is the firm favourite at the Grade 1 Coaching Club American Oaks. Abel Tasman was a Grade one winner when she was taken to the stable of Bob Baffert from trainer Simon Callaghan. Abel Tasman has two consecutive wins at two big stages, Churchill Downs and Belmont Park. She came from last in the Kentucky Oaks to win at the Acorn. Tasman will put her two race winning streak this weekend when she takes the center stage at Saratoga. She will surely be looking to win triple at the CCA Oaks. If Tasman manages to win this, she will have set a bar very high as a three-year-old. Although she will be facing tough competition from talented filly Salty, Tasman can do wonders with a win.


Joel Rosario tops weekly earnings

Joel Rosario has been named the Jockey’s Guild Jockey of the week. He leads North America’s jockey’s total earnings. The award is decided by the members of Jockey’s Guild which embodies more than 950 riders. Rosario had amassed $498,719 by the end of the week to add to his 2017 collection. He is also ranked seventh among North American jockeys with $9,254,994. To this date, he has accumulated more than $156 million career earnings. Rosario had 10 wins and was tied with three other jockeys’ for the second place. Richard Eramia led the week with 11 victories to his name. In his 21 starts, he has a win percentage of 48 % while finishing for the money in 67% of the starts. Rosario had made headlines way back in 2009 when he won six races on a single card. He has won the Dubai World Cup and the Kentucky Derby with the Animal Kingdom and Orb respectively.

Considered one of the best trainers, Bob Baffert is surely happy to have the best horse right now. He has trained 4 Kentucky Derby winners, 2 Belmont Stakes winners and 6 Preakness Stakes Champions. As of now, Baffert has a top horse in his stable at Del Mar Race track. The 4-year-old Arrogate is the leading earner for horses in North America. He has just participated in 8 races as of now and has already earned more than $17 million dollars. Arrogate has seven consecutive wins to his name. Baffert said that Arrogate is surely one of the best of all time and he still has a long way to go.
